As the African Union (AU) summit wrapped up last week in Addis Ababa, I sat down with Elias M. Magosi, the Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to discuss the organisation’s pivotal role in this year’s summit. Like other officials, he’s urged developed nations to live up to their climate change promises.
With member state Comoros as chair, the first island nation to assume it, SADC’s role on the continent is more important than ever. Magosi says the organisation is prepared to support the new chair every step of the way.
