Zimbabwe: Controversy as new ZANU-PF lawmakers use ‘back door’

The Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) now has 184 seats in the 280-member National Assembly with six more by-elections slated for February next year.

A two-thirds majority is key for ZANU-PF’s ambitions to take control of Parliament and amend the constitution to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term, which ends in 2028.
