Uganda Premier League: Vipers SC maintain lead

Vipers Sports Club have maintained the lead in the 2021/2022 Uganda Premier League table.

The Wakiso based team lead the log with 43 points from 20 matches played.

Last Friday Vipers SC lost 1-0 away to bottom placed Tooro United in a match played in Fort Portal. The defeat denied coach Roberto Oliviera Gonçalves do Carmo’s team the chance to increase their lead.

“It is sad that we lost our last match, but we must prepare better for the next match,” said Vipers’s Brazilian coach. The Vipers SC team will play their next match on March 16th against 11th placed Busoga United FC.

KCCA FC, placed second on the log, failed to close the gap on Vipers SC last Saturday when they drew goalless against arch-rivals SC Villa. KCCA FC have 41 points from 20 matches played.

Morley Byekwaso, the KCCA FC head coach told Sport News Africa that they need to keep focused because this is a League.

“We have 10 matches remaining in the League and we must be at our best in those remaining matches to have a chance of winning the League title,” added Byekwaso.

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC who are third on the log with 38 points also have a mathematical chance to win the League if they can register positive results in the remaining matches. Apart from KCCA FC who have only lost one match, URA FC have only lost two matches so far.

The Fort Portal based Tooro United at bottom of the 16-team table with only 12 points, while Mbarara City United are second from the bottom with 17 points.
