Hichilema says he’s resetting Lusaka’s relationship with China & US

After landing the first significant direct American investment into the Zambian mining sector in more than 30 years, President Hakainde Hichilema says he is resetting Zambia’s relationship with China and the US for the country’s benefit.

KoBold Metals, a California-based exploration firm heavily-backed by coalition of billionaires, including Bill Gates, Richard Branson, and Jeff Bezos, plans to invest $150m to develop a copper-cobalt mine in Chililabombwe on the border with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
